Azerbaijan seeks to learn from Germany’s tax incentive practices
Head of the State Tax Service under the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry Orkhan Nazarli and Head of the Tax Directorate at Germany's Federal Ministry of Finance Nils White have discussed the issues related to the development of bilateral relations.
Nazarli, who is also the president of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), noted during the online meeting that Azerbaijan is interested in studying Germany's experience in providing tax incentives across various sectors, particularly in supporting innovation, tax credits, digitalisation subsidies, startup benefits, environmental taxation, and other spheres, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The meeting also focused on strengthening international cooperation. The sides exchanged views on ways to deepen collaboration between the administrations both bilaterally and within the IOTA, as well as on the sharing of expertise in the field of taxation.
Strengthening partnership relations is crucial for both countries in terms of promoting economic expertise and investments.
This cooperation significantly enhances the administrations' ability to combat international tax fraud and more effectively address cases of tax evasion. Such a partnership will contribute to the development of resilient and adaptive systems capable of responding to global changes, while also creating a favorable business environment in both countries.
The meeting highlighted that Azerbaijan, chairing IOTA in 2024-2025, has also prepared a comprehensive package of strategic initiatives aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the organisation and increasing its appeal to member states. Azerbaijan is keen to discuss these matters with its German counterparts.
The meeting also addressed other issues of mutual interest.
