Azerbaijan takes over BSEC chairmanship for first half of 2025
The 49th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) was held online on December 19.
During the meeting, Azerbaijan was handed over the chairmanship of the BSEC for the first half of 2025, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev emphasized that Azerbaijan supports the transformation of BSEC into a more result-oriented platform for practical cooperation. He highlighted the country's efforts in creating safe transport routes and enhancing the region's transit potential through the Middle Corridor, promoting the export of green energy to Europe, and advancing the Black Sea Submarine Cable project.
Rafiyev also noted that one of Azerbaijan’s key priorities as BSEC Chairman will be to strengthen the activity of the Organisation’s working groups and expand sectoral cooperation among its member states.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol.
