Azerbaijan to build Aghdam-Barda railway by late 2023
The Aghdam-Barda railway line will be constructed in Azerbaijan till late 2023.
“The length of the new railway line is 47.1 kilometres. The railway line is being built in two stages,” Natavan Bayramova, spokesperson for Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, told reporters, APA reports.
Bayramova stressed that 44 percent of construction work has already been completed. The project implementation is planned to be completed in 2023.
“The railway line is being built in parallel with the demining process. So far, 13 kilometres of the territory have been cleared of mines, a certificate for 5 kilometres cleared of mines has been issued by Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA),” spokesperson said.
The design and construction of the Barda-Aghdam railway line was launched in accordance with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s order dated November 24, 2020.
