Executive director: US firms eye projects along Zangezur Corridor
US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) chief Kenneth Angell said American companies are poised to participate in Zangezur Corridor projects and submit proposals in upcoming tenders.
Angell noted that while Russia and Iran oppose the opening of the corridor, Türkiye supports it, and Armenia is also likely to back the initiative due to the potential for collecting transit fees on cargo passing through the route, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He emphasised that the corridor’s development will require security guarantees and careful diplomacy.
"The Zangezur Corridor, also referred to as the “Trump Route,” is currently at an early stage of implementation. Once operational, American companies are expected to actively engage in related projects and tenders."
Angell also highlighted that the broader Middle Corridor will soon present significantly wider opportunities for trade and transport.
The main objective of the corridor is to ensure the seamless movement of goods between Europe and China.
While questions remain about how the new route will differ from the existing Kazakhstan–Azerbaijan–Türkiye route, both corridors are expected to handle substantial volumes of cargo, providing an additional pathway for trade.
