Azerbaijan allocates $4.8 million for building construction in Aghdam
The Azerbaijani Service for the Restoration, Construction, and Management of the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend Districts has awarded a contract to Turan.I.O LLC for the construction of buildings in block O-140 of Residential Complex No. 5 in the city of Aghdam, Azerbaijan.
According to Caliber.Az, the contract details were published on the public procurement website. The total value of the contract is 8,228,724 manats, equivalent to approximately $4.85 million.
The project is part of Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to restore and develop infrastructure in Aghdam and surrounding districts, supporting urban reconstruction and community development initiatives.
Aghdam, once a thriving city in Azerbaijan, was devastated during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and remained under occupation until November 2020. Following the ceasefire agreement, the city was returned to Azerbaijani control, and extensive reconstruction efforts have been underway since then.
The Azerbaijani government has initiated a comprehensive plan to rebuild Agdam, aiming to transform it into a modern urban centre. This includes the construction of residential complexes, infrastructure development, and the restoration of historical sites.
As of early 2025, the government has resettled over 200 former internally displaced families in Aghdam, with plans to resettle approximately 10,000 people in the city and surrounding villages by the end of the year. By 2026, the total number of resettled individuals is expected to reach 20,000. These efforts are part of a larger initiative to resettle around 700,000 people in the Karabakh region.
