Azerbaijan unveils numbers of its population

The population of Azerbaijan as of June 1, 2023, was 10,148,057 people (excluding the population in the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed).

The State Statistics Committee told Caliber.Az that 54.6 per cent of the population are urban residents, 45.4 per cent - rural residents, 49.8 per cent - men, 50.2 per cent - women.

In January-May of 2023, the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice registered 46,544 newborns.

According to the State Statistics Committee, for every 1,000 people, this indicator has decreased from 12.0 to 11.1 compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

53.1 per cent of newborns are boys, 46.9 per cent are girls. Among newborns - 1360 twins, 72 - triplets and 4 - quadruplets.
