Azerbaijan welcomes first components of new-generation wind turbines For Khizi-Absheron project
Azerbaijan has received the first components of new-generation wind turbines, delivered by the Saudi company ACWA Power.
The components arrived at the Baku Shipyard, where they will be temporarily stored before being transported to the Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant for installation, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The Khizi-Absheron Wind Power Plant, which is set to boast a capacity of 240 MW, is a pivotal project in Azerbaijan's efforts to expand its renewable energy production. The foundation-laying ceremony for the plant took place on January 13, 2022, marking the commencement of this ambitious project. The wind power facility will feature 40 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6 MW.
The Khizi-Absheron Wind Farm is slated for commissioning in 2025, aligning with Azerbaijan’s goals to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
