Azerbaijani defence chief meets families of fallen heroes, pledges continued support PHOTO / VIDEO
On the occasion of Victory Day, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, along with the ministry’s leadership and a group of servicemen, paid tribute to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the country’s fallen heroes.
As the Defence Ministry informed Caliber.Az, the leadership first visited the Alley of Honourable Burial, where they laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev, honouring his enduring legacy.
The delegation also visited the grave of the distinguished ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, placing flowers and paying their respects to her memory.
Following this, the Defence Ministry leadership and servicemen visited the Alley of Martyrs, where they laid flowers at the graves of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity, as well as at the Eternal Flame Monument.
They then proceeded to the War Memorial Cemetery, where the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed by a military orchestra. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the fallen, and flowers were laid at their graves.
During the commemorative events, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov met with the families and relatives of the Martyrs, inquiring about their well-being and needs.
The families expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the leadership of the Defence Ministry for their constant attention, support, and care for the families of those who gave their lives for the Motherland.
