Azerbaijani envoy visits German state of North Rhine-Westphalia PHOTO
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Germany Nasimi Aghayev has visited North Rhine-Westphalia, the federal state with the largest population (18 million people) and ranking first among the country's regions in terms of GDP ($733 billion).
The purpose of the visit was to inform the region's high-ranking representatives about Azerbaijan's economy and available investment opportunities, as well as to encourage companies operating in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia to invest in Azerbaijan, Report informs.
During his visit, Aghayev met regional parliament (Lantag) speaker Andre Cooper, the mayor of Dusseldorf, the capital of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Stefan Keller, the leadership of UNIPER, one of Germany's key energy companies, representatives of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other institutions, as well as some Azerbaijani community activists living in Dusseldorf and nearby cities.
During the meetings with officials, information about the favourable business climate in Azerbaijan was brought to their attention, and prospects for cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, transport and logistics, as well as other areas, were discussed. It was proposed to implement the visit of an economic delegation from Azerbaijan to North Rhine-Westphalia in the near future.
