Azerbaijani, US key diplomats mull regional, bilateral issues PHOTO
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia James O'Brien on June 28, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
Discussions focused on bilateral and multilateral agendas between Azerbaijan and the United States, the current status and prospects for normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia on a bilateral basis, and regional issues.
Bayramov underscored the importance of developing Azerbaijan-US relations across various mutual interests. He briefed O'Brien on the region's post-conflict situation, ongoing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Azerbaijan's role as a peace process initiator committed to regional peace and stability.
The Minister highlighted significant progress in drafting a peace treaty and stressed the importance of Armenia eliminating territorial integrity and sovereignty claims against Azerbaijan from its Constitution and legislative framework. Bayramov criticized Armenia's policy of militarization, emphasizing its negative impact on regional peace.
The meeting also included discussions on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.
