Azerbaijanis worldwide celebrate Solidarity Day
Today, December 31, marks World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, a significant occasion that strengthens the bonds and unity among Azerbaijanis across the globe.
As noted by Caliber.Az, the origins of World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day can be traced back to late December 1989, during the dismantling of the Soviet-Iranian border in Nakhchivan. Border markers between Northern and Southern Azerbaijan were destroyed. At the same time, a conference of Turkic-speaking nations was held in Istanbul, where the decision was made to establish a day dedicated to the solidarity of Azerbaijanis worldwide.
On December 16, 1991, Heydar Aliyev, then Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, declared December 31 as World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, recognising the importance of unity among Azerbaijanis everywhere.
Happy Solidarity Day to all our readers! May our unity grow stronger each day, supporting us through both joyful and challenging times. Together, we will overcome any obstacles!
