Azerbajani FM informs Canadian counterpart of Armenia's border provocations
On September 17, a telephone conversation took place between the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and his Canadian counterpart Melanie Jolie.
The Foreign Ministry told APA that Jeyhun Bayramov informed the Canadian diplomat about the large-scale provocations of the Armenian armed forces in the border areas of Azerbaijan and expressed the Azerbaijani side's serious concern about the current situation. He said deliberate provocations by Armenia and obstacles to the normalization process are serial in nature and during the latest provocations, 79 Azerbaijani servicemen were killed.
The minister informed his colleague that Azerbaijan has always supported the norms and principles of international law, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states and has been advocating the resolution of the conflict based on these principles over the past 30 years. It was stated that Azerbaijan is not interested in aggravating the situation in the region during the period of restoration work and large investments, the return of internally displaced persons, and is a party promoting the process of normalizing relations with Armenia.
Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie expressed her concerns about tensions in the region and stressed the importance of respecting the ceasefire. She underlined the importance of ensuring stability and continuing the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, mentioning also the significance of demining efforts.
