Deputy PM: Azerbaijani-Russian border checkpoint to be reconstructed till late 2022
It is planned to complete the reconstruction of the border checkpoint on the Russian-Azerbaijani border, as well as increase the number of checkpoints in the fourth quarter of this year.
Report informs referring to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk’s statement made at the plenary meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Baku on April 26.
Overchuk stressed that the sides will continue working on the development of trade and economic cooperation.
“During this year, Russia and Azerbaijan will hold a number of events that will affect various spheres of activity. It is necessary to continue active work within the North-South International Transport Corridor,” deputy prime minister said.
The deputy prime minister stressed that a big number of Russian companies operate in Azerbaijan in a number of spheres.
Overchuk said that it is planned to commission a service center of the Russian KAMAZ company in the Araz Valley Economic Zone in Jabrayil district in the second quarter of 2022.
“The issues of launching joint production of railcars were also discussed,” Overchuk said.
The deputy prime minister said that it is important to maintain stable cooperation in the energy sector as well.
“We are ready for cooperation in the energy sector. Russia has great experience in this sphere. We expect that we will meet again within the 11th Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum in Baku and continue discussing current projects,” the deputy prime minister added.
Overchuk added that today is the 20th anniversary meeting of the Russia-Azerbaijan intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The deputy prime minister said that images of the Azerbaijani and Russian flags were projected on famous buildings on New Arbat avenue in Moscow on April 4.
“Various events are planned to be held during this anniversary year. One of the important events was the signing of a declaration on allied cooperation between the two countries on February 22, 2022 during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Moscow. This document opens up new perspectives for our countries,” Overchuk said.
