Emergency landing in Baku: Finnair flight diverts after passenger’s health deteriorates
A Finnair flight en route from Bangkok to Helsinki was forced to make an emergency landing at Baku's Heydar Aliyev International Airport after a passenger's health suddenly deteriorated mid-flight.
The incident occurred when the captain of the Airbus A350 aircraft requested an urgent landing at the airport. The reason for the diversion was a sharp and alarming decline in the condition of one of the passengers on board, Caliber.Az reports citing Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
The flight landed safely at 12:06 local time. Airport medical teams were immediately dispatched to the aircraft upon arrival. The passenger, who required immediate attention, was administered first aid on the spot. After an initial evaluation of their condition, the passenger was promptly transferred to one of Baku's medical centers for further treatment.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport highlighted its commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers and crew members, noting that the airport maintains a high level of preparedness to handle emergency situations. The airport also regularly conducts operational drills and simulations to ensure readiness for a range of security scenarios.
At this time, no further details regarding the passenger’s condition have been released.
