Envoy: Romanian turbines at Yukhari Vang contribute to Kalbajar's restoration
Romanian-made turbines are being used at the Yukhari Vang hydroelectric power station in Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan.
During his visit to Kalbajar, Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vasile Soare expressed admiration for the level of construction and restoration works being carried out there, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“I was personally impressed that Romanian turbines are being used at this hydroelectric power station. One could say that our country is also involved in the restoration processes of Karabakh. This will have a positive impact on the trade turnover between our countries and strengthen economic cooperation,” the diplomat said.
The ambassador noted that the Kalbajar district is striking for its natural beauty.
Azerbaijan has taken a major step towards sustainable energy with the opening of the new Yukhari Vang hydroelectric power plant, constructed by Azerenerji company in Kalbajar. The plant, with a capacity of 22.5 megawatts, is set to meet Kalbajar district's energy needs for the next five years. It will produce up to 66 million kilowatt hours of clean energy annually, offering both environmental and economic benefits. Equipped with advanced technology and adhering to strict environmental standards, the facility was built with input from international experts and is expected to pay for itself in seven years.
