Erdogan accuses Russia of unfulfilling anti-terrorism obligations in Syria
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the need for a military operation in Syria is due to Russia's irresponsible attitude towards its obligations to resolve the Syrian crisis.
Over 50 Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jets attacked the positions of the People's Self-Defence Forces and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Syria. Futhermore, about 20 Bayraktar Akinci drones were involved in the Claw-Sword operation, CNN Turk reports.
“Despite our repeated warnings to Russia, which is responsible for clearing terrorists from northern Iraq and Syria in line with our 2019 Sochi agreement, Moscow has not fulfilled and refuses to fulfil duty ... As Türkiye, we have declared that we will not be silent against terrorism and that we will take action if they don't. So, we struck and eliminated 12 nests of terrorists in Kobani,” Erdogan stressed.
The Turkish president added that the country will continue to strike at the positions of Kurdish formations both from the air and from the ground.
CNN clarifies that all targets of the Turkish Armed Forces in the Syrian region of Koban were destroyed.
