Erdoğan lauds steps toward Armenia-Azerbaijan peace, commends Trump for diplomatic role
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has lauded recent developments toward lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of diplomatic efforts and recognizing key figures involved in facilitating dialogue.
Speaking during the high-level debates at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Erdoğan stated that Türkiye had consistently advocated for peace between Baku and Yerevan from the outset of the conflict, Caliber.Az reports.
He welcomed the steps taken on August 8, which he said marked a significant move toward establishing durable peace between the two nations.
Erdoğan also took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump, crediting them for their contributions to the peace process. He expressed his appreciation for what he described as their constructive role in paving the way for a potential reconciliation.
