New date being arranged for OSCE chair's visit to Azerbaijan, says MFA press chief
Work is underway to determine a new date for the visit of Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, the current Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE, to Azerbaijan, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada.
“The visit of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, to the region was initially scheduled to begin in Azerbaijan on October 13. However, it was postponed due to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani delegation’s participation in the Middle East Peace Summit,” Hajizade said, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Earlier today, a well-informed source stated that the visit of the OSCE chair Elina Valtonen to Azerbaijan had been postponed.
For the record, Valtonen’s visit to Baku had been planned as part of her regional tour of the South Caucasus scheduled for October 13–15. As part of the same tour, the OSCE Chair visited Armenia on October 14 and is expected to travel to Georgia on October 15, according to the source.
During her Yerevan visit on October 14, Valtonen expressed support for the joint appeal by Armenia and Azerbaijan to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group in a meeting with Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.
