Estonian parliament condemns Khojaly Genocide on 34th anniversary PHOTO
The Estonia–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Riigikogu (Estonian parliament) expressed deep condolences to the people of Azerbaijan on the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
The group honoured the memory of over 600 civilians killed during the occupation of Khojaly on the night of February 25–26, 1992, including many children, women, and the elderly, and reaffirmed its support for Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to establish peace and stability in its territory, Caliber.Az reports via the Estonian parliament’s official website.

“We acknowledge that all the countries of the region have the right to sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as to the inviolability of their internationally recognised borders. We express our support to the Republic of Azerbaijan in the establishment of lasting peace on its territory, in integration, and reconstruction,” the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group wrote.

The Parliamentary Friendship Group also highlighted the importance of lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, alongside respect for the principles of international law.
“We value dialogue, building of trust, and peaceful development of the region. The Estonia-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group appreciates the parliamentary cooperation between our countries and is committed to strengthening it further,” the statement read.

The Estonia–Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group is chaired by Maria Jufereva-Skuratovski and includes members Jaak Aab, Vadim Belobrovtsev, Züleyxa Izmailova, Aleksei Jevgrafov, Ester Karuse, Toomas Kivimägi, Aivar Kokk, Eerik-Niiles Kross, Lauri Laats, Andres Metsoja, Heljo Pikhof, Juku-Kalle Raid, Urmas Reinsalu, and Aivar Sõerd.
