EU envoy discusses Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process in Ankara PHOTO
The European Union's Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia, Magdalena Grono, has held discussions in Ankara on the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"Concluding a positive visit to Ankara. Grateful to counterparts in Türkiye for open and constructive exchanges on South Caucasus and regional topics, including Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization, conflict-related issues in Georgia and Türkiiye-Armenia normalisation," she noted on her page on X, Caliber.Az reports.
Grono says the talks also addressed opportunities for engagement and regional cooperation that could benefit the countries of the South Caucasus, Türkiye, Central Asia, and the EU.
"In the face of growing global challenges, it is crucial to redouble efforts to advance regional stability, security, and sustainable peace," the EU special representative emphasized.
Following the signing of the trilateral statement on 10 November 2020, which ended the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Azerbaijan initiated the normalization of relations with Armenia on the basis of the norms and principles of international law. Despite ongoing negotiations in various platforms, concrete results have yet to materialize in all three tracks of the normalization process.
Currently, the process of negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia continues on a bilateral basis.
