European Commission's rep: COP29 in Azerbaijan - recognition of activity in renewable energy sources

Director General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission Gert Jan Koopman has said that hosting of COP29 in Azerbaijan is great achievement.

“Hosting of COP29 in Azerbaijan is great achievement and recognition of activity in renewable energy sources and the fight against climate change. During my current visit to Baku, I am ready to offer the European Commission’s support in hosting COP. We think that COP is a great achievement for Azerbaijan. This is a recognition of Azerbaijan's work in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and combating climate change. We are ready to support this,” Koopman said in an interview with Report.

Azerbaijan will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November 2024.
