EuroVillage 2022 kicks off in Baku PHOTO
The opening ceremony of the EuroVillage 2022 was held on Baku Seaside Boulevard in Azerbaijan on May 14.
Head of European Union (EU) delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko attended the opening ceremony, Report informs.
“EuroVillage is a window to Europe, an opportunity to see, learn and enjoy the rich culture and diversity that make up the EU. We are happy to share this holiday with our Azerbaijani friends, this event testifies to the strong partnership that the EU and Azerbaijan are building together!” the ambassador said.
Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Culture Elnur Aliyev, who recalled this annual event has not been held in Baku for several years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, also attended the opening ceremony.
“A lot of events occurred during this period. While the whole world was fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic, Azerbaijan was involved in a different fight. We have proven that we are capable of fulfilling every word of our anthem. We were able to restore our territorial integrity,” the deputy minister said.
Aliyev said that the motherland is sacred to every Azerbaijani.
The deputy minister said that various cultures have been always represented in Azerbaijan and today's event will bring Azerbaijani culture and the culture of the EU countries closer together.
“We strive to show the whole world the richness of Azerbaijani culture and history. Multicultural values play an important role. Therefore, we support this project and are ready to implement other similar cultural projects with the EU. The EU is an important partner for Azerbaijan, both in the economic and cultural spheres,” Aliyev said.
The guests will be able to learn more about the EU by visiting the stands of the EU member states, as well as EU-supported projects throughout Azerbaijan in the field of education, regional development, healthcare, etc.
ERASMUS+ will provide young people with information and advice on educational opportunities in Europe.
The chess competitions, sports events, etc. will be conducted during the EuroVillage.
EuroVillage 2022 provides an opportunity to learn more about the EU, its values, and activity, including long-term cooperation and partnership with Azerbaijan. The event has been organized by the EU delegation to Azerbaijan in cooperation with the embassies of EU member-states in Baku and through the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture.
