Deputy head of the Iranian National Medical Emergency Organisation Nejad Jahani has said that at least 69 people died during a week as a result of large-scale flooding in Iran.
"Proceeding from the latest data, 69 people died in different parts of the country," TASS quotes Jahani as saying.
“Six of the dead are Iraqi citizens. Around 45 more people are listed as missing," he said, according to ISNA.
Earlier, 61 people have been reported to be dead.
The disaster affected 24 of Iran's 31 provinces. Bakhtiari, Isfahan, Yazd, Lorestan, Mazandaran, Tehran and Chaharmahal were affected the most. Meteorologists urge to refrain from hiking in the mountains and walking to the banks of the rivers until August 1, 2022.
