Georgia faces NATO Summit setback, opposition MP chides authorities
Georgian MP Teona Akubardia criticizes the outcome of the NATO summit, labelling it a "total disaster" for Georgia.
Akubardia expressed deep concern over NATO's omission of Georgia as a partner country in its latest declaration, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
She highlighted the exclusion of Georgia's democratic progress and defence capabilities from NATO discussions, a stark departure from previous summit acknowledgements since the Prague Summit in 2002.
Akubardia blamed the Georgian Dream government for adopting what she termed the "Russian law," which NATO had cautioned against.
This legislation, she argued, has halted Georgia's NATO integration efforts and led to its exclusion from high-level summit participation.
She pointed out that while other non-member states like New Zealand and Japan attended the summit, Georgia, for the first time since 2008, was not mentioned in NATO's accession discussions.
