Georgian authorities warn of opposition provocations Ahead of parliamentary elections
Rati Ionatamishvili, a member of the Parliament from ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party, accused the opposition of plotting provocations as the country approaches parliamentary elections on October 26.
Ionatamishvili expressed concerns that the opposition, which he described as a coalition of various parties led by the "collective National Movement," is scheming to destabilize the political landscape in Georgia, Caliber.Az reports citing Georgian media.
The MP asserted that the ruling government will take all necessary measures to thwart these potential disruptions, emphasizing that the state will not permit any "insidious plans" to unfold. He portrayed the opposition's actions as attempts to incite chaos and possibly drag the nation into conflict if there were a change in power.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze also urged citizens to remain vigilant against possible provocations, reiterating concerns about the opposition's intentions.
