India ships first Pinaka guided missiles to Armenia
India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh announced that the first shipment of Pinaka guided missiles has been sent to Armenia from the Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) facility in Nagpur.
According to Hindu Business Line, Armenia had earlier concluded a contract with India for the purchase of four batteries of the Pinaka multiple-launch rocket system.
The agreement also covers the export of guided munitions for multiple-launch rocket systems, along with additional defence equipment.
Deliveries of the Pinaka launchers began in July 2023 and were completed in full by November 2024.
Reports note that Armenia accounted for 43 per cent of India’s total arms exports in the 2022–2023 period. For 2024–2025, the two countries have signed defence procurement contracts valued at $600 million.
These multi-million-dollar agreements include not only Pinaka systems, but also howitzers, anti-tank missiles, and counter-drone equipment. In addition, Armenia is expected to acquire 90 ATAGS howitzers from India over the next three years, six of which have already been delivered.
