International travellers share their impressions of Karabakh PHOTO
Restoration work in Karabakh is proceeding at full speed, and people are finally living in peace, Portuguese traveller João Paulo Pichoto told journalists in Azerbaijan's Aghdam region.
The guest noted that during his previous visit in 2021, he had seen the plans for restoration work, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Now I am witnessing that all the promised plans have truly been implemented. The changes are astonishing,” Pichoto said.
The traveller also expressed confidence in the swift demining of the region as part of Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts.
“Aghdam, as I can see, is almost completely cleared of mines. This is truly impressive work,” he concluded.
German traveller Karl Kuffner called the scale of restoration work in Karabakh impressive.
“I am very impressed with what I have seen over the past two days since arriving in Azerbaijan. I mean, first and foremost, the wonderful environment in the capital, Baku. The trip to Karabakh is also very fascinating, particularly due to the speed of development in the region and the country as a whole. I look forward to seeing even more,” Kuffner said.
The traveller also emphasised that Azerbaijan pays attention to preserving historical heritage during the restoration of Karabakh, including Aghdam.
According to German traveller Oliver Kempken, the pace of Karabakh’s restoration indicates great prospects for the region, which will soon flourish.
Kempken noted that this is not his first visit to Azerbaijan, and he is impressed by the country’s rate of development.
“I visited Azerbaijan in 2017, and I must say that the country continues to surprise me, especially with what I see today,” the traveller said.
He highlighted that Azerbaijan has a unique atmosphere compared to other CIS countries: “The energy here is completely different — modern, European. People are highly educated, open, and friendly.”
The guest also expressed hope for further development and popularisation of Karabakh.
“I am confident that very soon this region will become prosperous, especially after all the trials it has gone through. Congratulations to the people of Azerbaijan and the country’s leadership — fantastic work has been done. I look forward to returning here again,” he added.
For the record, a group of international travellers from the Extreme Travelers International Congress (ETIC) began a two-day road trip today along the route Aghdam — Khankendi — Lachin — Shusha — Fuzuli.
