International travellers to visit liberated territories of Azerbaijan
The travel group NomadMania held a press conference to announce their upcoming trip to the Karabakh region.
During the briefing, NomadMania’s head, Harry Mitsidis, provided participants with details about the trip and the history of Karabakh, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Mitsidis noted that many areas in the region remain largely unexplored.
“Karabakh is still a largely unexplored region. By nature, we are drawn to such regions, and we believe they are worth visiting,” he said.
He also emphasised that Karabakh’s history requires deep study and understanding. Travellers were briefed on the history of the conflict and atrocities committed by Armenian forces in Azerbaijani territory.
“One of the most tragic events was the Khojaly genocide in February 1992, when hundreds of civilians were killed. This episode stands out as one of the most brutal during the war,” Mitsidis stated.
He also addressed Azerbaijan’s mine problem: “The issue of anti-personnel mines is very serious, and clearing the territories takes a long time. It is a very labor-intensive and costly process.”
The travel group leader highlighted that tourists will have the opportunity to visit historical sites and enjoy the natural beauty of Karabakh, gaining a deeper understanding of Azerbaijan’s history during their trip.
