Iran accused of using cluster bomb rocket in Israel conflict
Iran has reportedly deployed a rocket armed with cluster munitions against Israeli cities for the first time since the outbreak of the ongoing military conflict.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the development in a statement issued on Thursday, condemning the attack, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Press Service of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Today, Iran launched an attack on Israeli cities using a rocket with cluster munitions for the first time,” the statement read.
Cluster munitions are widely criticised internationally due to their potential to cause widespread harm to civilians, as they release multiple smaller bomblets over a large area, many of which can remain unexploded and pose a long-term danger.
