Iran accuses individuals in West Azerbaijan of working with Israel's Mossad
Iran is accusing 10 individuals of working with the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency in its West Azerbaijan Province on October 24.
As the Jerusalem Post reports, citing Iranian outlets, the individuals are suspected of attempting to identify Iranian intelligence forces working against Israel in various parts of Iran.
According to the Iranian Tasnim, the individuals supposedly were involved in kidnapping, threatening and beating Iranian forces for the purpose of extracting information.
Only earlier this month, Iran made another arrest of a suspected Mossad agent, with an Iranian judiciary official commenting at the time, that "the accused has made several trips to different countries with the aim of transferring information, [...] his last trip was to a neighbouring country".
Before that, Iranian agencies reported that two Revolutionary Guard members (IRGC) had been kidnapped and interrogated by Mossad agents inside Iran at the beginning of 2022.
The Jerusalem Post recalls, that those two Iranian officials admitted to planning assassination attempts, including against an Israeli diplomat and US military man, as well as being involved in weapon deliveries to Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen as part of the Logistics Wing of the IRGC.
The announcement comes amid ongoing anti-government protests that erupted across Iran in mid-September after the death of a young woman in police custody.
Tehran has blamed the demonstrations on "enemies of the country", namely the US and Israel, the former still not being recognised by Iran as a state. Tehran consistently accuses Israel of attacking nuclear facilities and carrying out assassinations inside the country.
