Iran nabs 24 alleged Israeli spies in major security sweep
Iranian authorities have detained 24 individuals accused of collaborating with Israeli intelligence and conducting operations aimed at destabilising the Islamic Republic, both online and offline.
According to the state-run Tasnim News Agency, the announcement was made by Police Chief Kioumars Azizi, who stated: “Twenty-four people who spied for the Zionist enemy offline and online, as well as attempted to undermine public opinion, tarnish and destroy the image of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have been arrested.”
The arrests come amid heightened tensions following repeated Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets and escalating regional hostilities.
This crackdown follows another counterintelligence operation reported on June 18, when the Intelligence Service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Lorestan Province apprehended five individuals allegedly attempting to carry out Mossad-directed missions in the cities of Khorramabad, Borujerd, and Dorud.
In a separate incident, Iranian law enforcement reportedly foiled a planned terrorist operation in the city of Rey, just south of Tehran.
The group behind the plot is also suspected of links to Israel’s Mossad, according to Iranian media. Officials said all threats were neutralised in the course of a “successful operation.”
