Iran, Russia target $30 billion trade expansion
Iran and Russia are seeking to significantly expand economic cooperation, with both sides aiming to boost bilateral trade to $30 billion, Tehran province governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian said after a meeting with Alexei Dedov.
Motamedian said both countries had reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation by leveraging existing economic opportunities to reach the targeted trade volume, Caliber.Az reports via IRNA.
He added that Tehran Province, as a major economic hub, would play a key role in advancing this objective through its business community and industrial capacity.
Motamedian noted that work is already underway to develop a comprehensive roadmap for deeper engagement with Moscow.
He highlighted the province’s strengths in financial and monetary operations, logistics, and its broader position as one of Iran’s most important economic centers, which together provide strong potential for expanding international partnerships.
Beyond trade, Iranian officials have proposed closer collaboration with Russia across a range of sectors, including logistics, urban transport, and the implementation of “smart city” technologies.
Tehran has also expressed interest in joint efforts to tackle environmental challenges, including air pollution, and suggested holding bilateral meetings to benefit from Russia’s experience in this field.
