Iran to hold second round of elections as results of first round announced
The Central Election Commission of Iran has disclosed the names of 245 deputies who secured seats in the Majlis (parliament) following the initial round of elections held on March 1.
Mohsin Islami, the press secretary of the Iranian Central Election Commission, confirmed that the vote-counting process has been completed in 208 constituencies nationwide, according to reports from Iranian media, cited by Caliber.Az.
However, the fate of an additional 45 parliamentary seats will be determined through a second round of voting, as announced by Islami.
In addition to parliamentary elections, voting for the Council of Experts was also conducted on March 1, resulting in the election of 72 members out of a total of 88. The remaining 16 seats on the Council will be determined in the upcoming second round of voting.
The specific date for the second round of elections has yet to be announced by Iranian authorities.
Over 15,000 candidates vying for 290 seats in the Iranian parliament, and 144 candidates competing for 88 seats on the Council of Experts.
The upcoming second round of elections will play a crucial role in determining the final composition of both the Majlis and the Council of Experts, shaping Iran's political landscape for the next legislative term.
