Kazakhstan to transit 125,000 tonnes of oil via Azerbaijan in April
Kazakhstan will export 125,000 tonnes of oil through Azerbaijan in April this year.
The announcement came from Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Trade and Integration Minister Serik Zhumangarin, Report informs, citing Kazinform.
According to an earlier agreement, Kazakhstan plans to supply 1.5 million tonnes of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline from 2023.
"The process has already started in March, the first two tankers have been dispatched - 20,000 tonnes, for April, there are 125,000 tonnes," he said.
According to Zhumangarin, Baku also offers other routes.
"For example, the Baku-Supsa pipeline, but we are now calculating the technical specifications of the pipeline. A large volume is handled by rail as well - to the ports of Batumi and Poti. The most important issue we are now studying is the road map to eliminate bottlenecks in transportation from the Kazakh and Azerbaijani sides," the minister noted.
He also noted that the issue of creating a joint venture was discussed within the framework of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Astana on April 10.
According to him, it will be "a single operator on this transit route, with a through tariff, with cheap transit opportunities, using innovative technologies".
