Lithuanian FM says Georgia on separate track from Ukraine, Moldova for EU candidacy
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has said that the Georgian government has not yet taken convincing steps to obtain the status of an EU candidate.
“I would very much like the Georgian government to act more actively, with more energy and strength, with more determination to move to the status of a candidate. So far, we do not see any convincing steps,” Landsbergis told reporters in Brussels on December 12 on the sidelines of the Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting, Novosti-Georgia reports.
Landsbergis said he was “sad to see that on the way to the EU, Georgia is on a separate track from Ukraine and Moldova”
“Lithuania has always actively supported the accession of Georgia and the status of a candidate. The key to an accelerated return to the EU is still in the hands of the Georgian government,” the minister said.
