Media: Putin, Erdogan may meet again after UN General Assembly
Russian President Vladimir Putin may hold another meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan after attending the UN General Assembly (UNGA).
The UNGA will be held from September 19 to 26. Erdogan is expected to make a speech on the first day of the event, Hurriyet newspaper reports.
According to the newspaper, Putin's statements after the meeting with the Turkish president on September 4 indicate that negotiations on the grain deal "will take a little more time." The newspaper's columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, who accompanied the Turkish president on the trip, believes that the two leaders "may meet again after Erdogan's contacts at the UNGA”.
On September 4, the Russian and Turkish presidents met in Sochi. Their talks lasted three hours. They discussed joint projects, the grain deal and the situation in Ukraine, among other things.
Following the meeting, Vladimir Putin said that Russia was ready to revive the grain deal after the removal of restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products.
