Moscow says improved Azerbaijani-Iranian ties to positively impact South Caucasus, Caspian Sea regions
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that the improvement of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations will have a positive effect on the overall situation in the South Caucasus and Caspian Sea regions.
"We see great potential in the development of regional projects between the countries of the South Caucasus and their neighbours. This logic, in particular, is embedded in our work to expand the North-South international transport corridor,” she told a briefing on May 23, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to Zakharova, Russia is determined to continue close cooperation with Baku and Tehran, including within the framework of the Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran dialogue format, as well as through the consultative regional platform ‘3+3’, which includes Russia, Iran, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
“We are convinced that regional players should seek solutions to existing challenges and problems themselves without interference from outside. There is a relevant positive experience, and we should build on it," the diplomat added.
