Moscow steps up patrols around government buildings after fatal explosion
Russian law enforcement agencies have stepped up patrols around the headquarters of key security agencies in Moscow following a blast that occurred on the night of December 23 to 24.
Additional security measures were introduced after the incident, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Telegram channel Baza.
Baza reports that officers from a special police regiment were ordered to report for duty in full protective gear, including helmets and body armour fitted with six protective plates. An additional one to two officers were deployed at each post.
Heightened security has been put in place around the Moscow Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry on Petrovka Street and the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces on Znamenka Street.
As previously reported, an explosion occurred overnight on Yeletskaya Street in southern Moscow, resulting in the death of two traffic police officers and one individual. The Russian Investigative Committee clarified that an unknown individual detonated an explosive device during their detention on the street and was also killed.
