MP: Transparency in military purchases puts Armenia's defence at risk
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan has raised concerns about Armenia’s military acquisitions, which are frequently disclosed with specific figures and models.
“Armenia’s military acquisitions, frequently disclosed with specific figures and models, significantly compromise the security of our defence system,” the lawmaker stated, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
He noted, “In contrast, Azerbaijan conducts its military imports under strict secrecy, revealing only the military budget and, at most, the quantity and frequency of air transports.”
Abrahamyan emphasized that this unpredictability — from the timing and direction of strikes to the methods used — can provide a substantial initial advantage and potentially determine the overall outcome of the conflict.
“The visibility of our military supplies enables the adversary to transform billions' worth of military equipment and armaments into scrap metal within hours,” he added. “In this regard, Azerbaijan aims to secure a significant advantage early on and then adjust its strategy according to its priorities,” the Armenian MP concluded.
