Multiple drone attacks leave civilians wounded across Russian regions
Russian regional officials reported multiple Ukrainian drone strikes across several regions, leaving civilians injured and causing damage to residential and civilian infrastructure, while air defences continued to intercept large numbers of unmanned aerial vehicles near Moscow.
In the Bryansk region, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said kamikaze drones targeted the area, injuring three people. In the town of Starodub, a woman was wounded and subsequently hospitalised. The attack also damaged a residential building and a vehicle.
Another incident occurred in the settlement of Belaya Beryozka, where a drone struck a moving car. Two men were injured in the strike and taken to the hospital, while the vehicle was completely destroyed.
In the neighbouring Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that the town of Korocha was attacked by two drones. Five people were injured, including four minors. According to Gladkov, the casualties resulted from the explosion of a drone near a social facility.
He provided details of the injuries, stating: “An 18-year-old young man has facial abrasions, one 16-year-old girl has an arm wound and abrasions on her legs, another has a foot wound, and two other 16-year-old boys have soft tissue abrasions to the head and back.”
The blast caused damage to the social facility, including shattered windows and a damaged facade. Nearby residential areas were also affected, with windows blown out in three apartments across two multi-story buildings and in two private homes. Six vehicles sustained shrapnel damage.
Gladkov added that the detonation of a second drone caused further damage to a commercial property, affecting its roof, facade, and glazing.
Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russian air defenсe systems intercepted 12 additional drones on their approach to the capital. According to him, a total of 38 drones had been shot down near Moscow since the start of the day.
“Emergency service specialists are working at the sites where debris fell,” Sobyanin said.
The wave of drone attacks targeting Moscow has been ongoing since March 14. On March 16 alone, 62 drones were intercepted on approach to the city, indicating a sustained intensification of aerial attacks.
