New school year begins at modern secondary school in Azerbaijan's Jabrayil PHOTO
Today marks the first day of classes at the Secondary School in the Azerbaijani city of Jabrayil named after Mehdi Mehdizada.
The ceremony celebrating the opening of the academic year was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Education Firudin Gurbanov, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for the Jabrayil, Gubadli, and Zangilan districts, Vahid Hajiyev, along with other officials, school staff, and local residents, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The school, designed to accommodate 950 students, features 40 classrooms and 5 administrative offices. All classrooms are fully equipped with necessary educational materials.
The educational facility includes modern laboratories for chemistry, physics, and biology, as well as technology and IT rooms, 4 STEAM classrooms, a pre-military training room, a library, an auditorium, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria. This state-of-the-art infrastructure provides students with access to a well-rounded and advanced learning environment.
Jabrayil district was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 23, 1993. During the occupation, the district consisted of 1 city, four settlements, and 97 villages. During the occupation years, IDPs from Jabrayil settled in about 2,000 settlements, tent camps, freight cars, and dormitories in 58 other districts of Azerbaijan.
On January 5, 1994, during the Horadiz operation, Jabrayil's Jojug Marjanli village was liberated from occupation.
Six days after Azerbaijan's victory over the enemy in the Great Patriotic War, on November 16, 2020, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva visited the liberated Jabrayil district. The president raised the glorious Azerbaijani flag in Jabrayil and at the Khudafarin Bridge.
