Orientalist Gevorgyan describes EU mission in Armenia as mere "decoration"
Orientalist Karine Gevorgyan has said that the expansion of the European Union's reconnaissance and surveillance mission in Armenia is a political gesture, but it will have no effect in terms of the country's security.
According to Gevorgyan, the mission in Armenia is a decoration, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
In December, the EU announced the expansion of the mission to monitor the situation on Armenia's border with Azerbaijan to 209 people (instead of the previous 138).
"The authority of European structures is falling with the acceleration of free fall. European officials will come to Armenia, which is considered an unsafe zone (that's why they receive double salaries). This is a kind of sinecure for them. What is it for Armenia? Nothing. It will have no effect," the expert said.
She reminded that this year there will be elections in the EU, "besides, serious criminal cases have been initiated against some Brussels officials, such as Ursula von der Leyen. And the collective sovereignty of the EU has fallen by an order of magnitude in recent years.
Earlier, a number of Armenian experts stated that the observers in Armenia, who are representatives of NATO countries, particularly Germany and France, are intelligence agents. And their main mission is to gather information about the Russian military presence in Armenia and to keep an eye on Iran.
