Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to Germany and the meeting with leading companies gave a new impetus to the development of cooperation in many spheres, including energy.
Shahbazov said that a project is being implemented to transfer “green energy” from the Caspian Sea, which has the second biggest wind energy potential in the world, from Azerbaijan through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania and Hungary.
“This project for the supply and route of a new energy resource is supported by the EU. In the initial stage, four GW of energy is planned to be transferred, thus Azerbaijan will become an important supplier of "green energy" for Europe. All this, as well as Azerbaijan's potential and plans for green energy, are opportunities for partnership with the German companies,” he added.
The interest of energy companies in cooperation in the transmission of electricity which is generated in Azerbaijan, renewable energy and green hydrogen, production of solar panels, and decarbonisation was expressed at the round table. Some issues were discussed at the meeting. The views on the cooperation prospects were exchanged.
