Presidents of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan to hold next meeting

19 December 2022 09:10

The leaders of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, following the meeting of the heads of the Ministries of Energy of the three countries, will hold a new summit and decide on a roadmap for the export of Turkmen natural gas to Europe.

According to Turkish  President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the issue of supplies of Turkmen gas to Europe was discussed during the summit of Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan held last week in Turkmenbashi, Caliber.Az reports, citing the TRT TV channel.

“We discussed the possibility of such a step by three countries. They said, "Why not?" And gave appropriate instructions. The Minister of Energy of Türkiye, together with his team, was instructed to carry out preliminary work with colleagues from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. Following these works, we, as the leaders of the three states, will hold a new meeting and, I hope, decide on what the road map will be," Erdogan said.

"The supply of natural gas from Turkmenistan, especially through Azerbaijan, to our country will facilitate our efforts,” Erdogan said, speaking about the possibility of supplying Turkmen blue fuel to Europe through a hub that is planned to be created on Turkish territory."

He also noted that the topic of creating a hub has been on the agenda of Türkiye for a long time.

“We have repeatedly discussed this issue with the respected President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. He accepted Turkey as a hub through which it could supply natural gas to Europe. And not only supply but also determine the price of gas. We agreed with this,” Erdogan said.
