Rehabilitation of inner-city roads underway in Lachin PHOTO/VIDEO

The Azerbaijani State Automobile Agency is implementing a project to restore intra-city roads in Lachin.

The reconstruction of the internal roads of the city of Lachin with a length of about 70 km consists of the restoration of central streets and intra-block roads, APA reports.

The width of streets and intra-block roads varies from 4 to 11 meters.

Construction and restoration work is carried out in accordance with the “Construction Norms and Rules”, under the control of the leadership of the State Highway Agency of Azerbaijan.

Reconstruction work is planned to be completed in the near future. For this purpose, the necessary number of forces has been brought to the territory.

Along with the restoration of internal roads of the city of Lachin, modern road infrastructure is being created in the city, which will ensure comfortable movement for the population living here and visiting guests.

The Azerbaijani army took full control of Lachin city along with the adjacent Zabukh and Sus villages on August 25, 2022.

Earlier, Lachin City was temporarily controlled by the Russian peacekeepers to provide communication between Armenia and the Garabagh region. Under the November 10, 2020, trilateral statement, signed by the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian leaders, the city should be handed over to Azerbaijan after the completion of a new road, which would be an alternative to the Lachin road.

Following the completion of the new road bypassing Lachin, Azerbaijan demanded that Armenia clear the unlawfully occupied city and adjacent settlements by August 25, 2022.
