Russia moves to simplify export of unused military equipment
The Russian Ministry of Defence has drafted a presidential decree to simplify the export of military equipment and weapons not in demand by the armed forces.
The draft decree would expand the ministry’s authority over the control and management of military exports, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
It grants the Ministry of Defence the right to review and approve documentation for weapons and equipment developed without a state order for export, and to issue determinations on whether such items fall into this category.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defence will be authorised to evaluate technical documentation related to the development, production, operation, and disposal of weaponry to determine its classification for export abroad.
The draft also includes editorial changes to the ministry’s regulations and aims to improve the efficiency of regulating military-technical support for exported products, including those not required by the Russian Armed Forces.
