Russia says US, Europe no longer "honest broker" in Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation
The US and EU representatives, in particular France, have failed applications for the role of "honest broker" in the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalisation.
The remarks were voiced by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova during a press briefing on April 27, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian media.
"Attempts by French and American colleagues to convince everyone that they are guided solely by the interests of achieving peace in the South Caucasus are disavowed by their regular anti-Russian attacks," Zakharova said.
According to her, such statements cannot be attributed to constructive work. The statements reinforce the feeling that the real aspirations of Washington and Paris are opportunistic, politicized, and aimed at undermining the positions of Russia, concern for the fate of the peoples of the region is not included in their plans, the diplomat believes, Zakharova said.
Earlier, the Russian side stated that the format of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Karabakh settlement (Russia, France, and the United States) actually no longer exists, since Western countries refuse to cooperate with Moscow.
