Russian politician: We are proud of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is a country we are proud of, newly elected leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Leonid Slutsky said.

“Azerbaijan lives in my heart for many years,” Slutsky, who took part in the ceremony at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia on the occasion of May 28 - Independence Day, told reporters, according to APA.

“Today, Azerbaijan has a prosperous economy,” the newly elected leader noted, adding that Azerbaijan is such a country that you never get tired of visiting.

He said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has achieved unprecedented success for his country.

“President Aliyev turned Azerbaijan into a country, which does not depend on energy. The Azerbaijani leader coped with the tasks, the solution of which is impossible,” Slutsky said.

“The projects of great importance outside the country were implemented under the leadership of Azerbaijani First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and through the coordination of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by Mehriban Aliyeva. I congratulate all the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of Independence Day,” the Russian politician added.
