Russian travel agency sends customers to Mardin instead of Madrid

A travel agency in Russia accidentally sent its clients, not to Madrid, the capital of Spain, but to the Turkish city of Mardin.

Local tourism expert Bekir Falay explained the confusion caused by the mistake of the Russian travel agency, the Turkish newspaper Yeni Akit reports.

But he noted that the stricken travellers in Türkiye were met very well.

Aslan Pashaoglu, President of the Association of Tourism Enterprises of Mardin, said that although the tourists were shocked by the current situation, they liked Mardin very much.

According to available information, the travel agency's clients were sent to Spain the next day by flight via Istanbul.
