Serbia plans deeper digital economy cooperation with Azerbaijan
Serbia and Azerbaijan have significant potential to expand cooperation in the IT sector, including opportunities for joint access to third-country markets.
Nenad Popović, Serbian Minister for the Development of International Economic Cooperation, made the remarks on the sidelines of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He noted that political relations between Belgrade and Baku are at a very high level and that the leaders of both countries maintain close and friendly ties. According to him, this provides a solid foundation for further development of economic cooperation.
“Therefore, we need more meetings between our businesspeople and as many business forums as possible. We particularly see potential in the development of new technologies, digitalization, the IT sector, and everything related to artificial intelligence and robotics,” he said.
Popović added that dozens of Serbian companies are interested in joint projects with Azerbaijani partners, not only within bilateral cooperation but also with a view to entering third-country markets through joint initiatives.
“I especially see this collaboration in the IT sector, where there is enormous potential,” he noted.
The minister also expressed hope that a new business forum could soon be held, either in Belgrade or Baku, to further facilitate engagement between the business communities.
“I believe in small and medium-sized enterprises in our cooperation and am confident that the volume of our trade will grow every year,” he added.
